Shooting in the Armenian Parliament

Statements of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia
28 October

On October 28, the Minister of defense made a statement, saying "a premeditated and insidious crime happened in the National Assembly on October 27. Whatever has happened was directed towards the Armenian statehood and the future of the Armenian nation. Why wasn’t the premeditated crime uncovered, and how were the the gunmen able to enter the Parliament? Does the nation really expect this case to be investigated objectively?
The situation may provoke unpredictable results, endangering the internal and external security of the country. The national army cannot remain impartial in such a critical moment for the nation and the state. The national army considers it to be its duty to protect the independence and peace, obtained by the nation at the cost of lots of hardships, lives and blood of its sons. National army considers it to be its duty to protect the constitutional rights and democracy in the country – defending the road taken by Armenia and the Armenian nation.
We state with profound indignation that the demands of the commanding staff of the army in connection with the assasinations of the general-major Artsrun Margaryan and the deputy minister of internal affairs Vahram Khorkhoruni were completely ignored by legal departments. As a result, the chain of horrible crimes keeps going. Thus, we demand the prompt dismissal of the general prosecutor of the republic, as well as the ministers of National security and internal affairs. Once again we are expressing our support and willingness to cooperate with RA President in the establishment of legality and order in the country.
